Michael C. Stevens, Ph.D.
Dr. Stevens is a graduate of the University of Connecticut
Clincal Psychology doctoral program. He completed clinical internship
in neuropsychology at the West Haven VAMC. His postdoctoral work in
clinical and research neuropsychology was done at the University of
Connecticut School of Medicine's Alcohol Research Center.
He is a licensed psychologist in the State of Conneticut,
currently specializing in clinical neuropsychological assessment of
adolescents and adults. He is a member of the International Neuropsychological
Society, the American Psychological Association, and the Cognitive Neuroscience
Society.
Roles
and Responsibilities include:
- Formulate and enact new studies
that integrate fMRI, ERP, neuropsychological testing, and clinical
assessment methods to investigate the neurobiological basis of psychiatric
disorders.
- Supervise the efforts of research staff and postdoctoral fellows
for various NRC projects.
Objectives/Interests
in Neuropsychiatry:
- Developmental psychopathology and clinical neuroscience,
especially disruptive behavior disorders of childhood and adolescence
and their adult sequelae.
- Neural correlates of cognitive development
across the lifespan.
- The neurobiological basis for disrupted attention
and executive-functions in psychiatric disorders.
Current
Projects:
- Relationship between inhibitory control mechanisms and personality
profiles in juvenile and adult psychopathy using fMRI and ERPs.
- The neurobiological basis of psychosis in bipolar disorder and schizophrenia
