Examination of Brain Function in Teens and Adults with ADHD
Purpose:
The purpose of this study is to examine how ADHD (psychostimulant) medications affect people’s overall pattern of brain function, with the aim of better understanding what neural changes lead to ADHD symptom relief. No new medications are being tested in this study. However, participants must agree to take a ‘placebo’ (a pill that may or may not contain an active dose of their own medication) for 2 days prior to some appointments.
Eligibility Requirements:
Teenagers and Adults (ages 12-50) who already have been diagnosed with ADHD. All participants must have a history of hyperactive/impulsive behavior. ADHD participants already must be taking one of several common ADHD medications which works effectively to reduce their symptoms. Pregnant women cannot participate in this study.
Visit Frequency:
At least three visits are required. The first visit is an interview/cognitive assessment and will take between 2-3 hours. The second and third visits test the effect of medications on brain function using EEG, fMRI and cognitive testing (all of which are safe and non-invasive), requiring approximately 5 hours each visit. Some appointment times are available on weekends.
Compensation:
Participants receive $20.00 per hour for their participation, for a total of between 10-15 hours in all.

Examination
of Brain Function in Teens with Conduct Problems
Purpose:
The purpose of this study is to examine brain function in teenagers who have problems with their behavior (e.g., problems with the law, diagnoses of ADHD, frequent oppositional behavior, etc).Eligibility Requirements:
Participants must be teenagers between the ages of 12 and 18 and in generally good health. Pregnant women cannot participate in this study.
Visit Frequency:
Several visits may be required to complete a psychiatric interview, EEG, fMRI and neurocognitive testing. All these procedures are painless, non-invasive methods of assessing brain function. Some appointment times are available on weekends.
Compensation:
