Alcohol, Driving and Brain Activation
The purpose of this study is to examine with the aid of fMRI the effects of alcohol on brain functions involved in driving.
Normal, male and female subjects over 18 years of age, who drink socially, hold a valid driver's license and do not use street drugs. Pregnant women cannot participate in this study.
Subjects are seen twice. The first visit is for the purposes of screening and takes 1-2 hours for a brief physical, psychiatric and neuropsychological examination.
The second visit is the actual study and consists of approximately 3 scanning hours.
A forthcoming study will last 3 or 4 days and involve staying overnight.
A urine sample is collected to screen for drug use.
Participants receive $20.00 per hour for full study participation and $10 for the screening session.
