Biomarkers Research Assistant - The Olin Neuropsychiatry
Research Center (www.nrc-iol.org)
at the Institute of Living/Hartford Hospital seeks a full-time research
assistant. BA or BS required. Experience with computers running MS
Windows, Unix (Solaris and Linux) and DOS required. Computer programming
(Matlab) a plus. Research assistant will be involved in all aspects of
cognitive and functional brain imaging studies in healthy populations,
patients with schizophrenia and related mental illnesses and their
unaffected siblings. Duties will primarily include collection of
functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) data, MRI scanner operation
and maintenance, continued development of center-wide data distribution
software, and collection of samples for genetic testing. Additional
responsibilities could include analyses of brain imaging data and
development of psychological paradigms for cognitive studies. Goals of
the Olin Center include advancement of psychological and pharmacological
therapeutic and diagnostic techniques for major mental illnesses.
Qualified research assistants will be allowed to develop their own
studies and collect fMRI data on the 3T scanner. Ample scan time is
available. The salaries and travel benefits are excellent. The Olin
Center, located in Hartford, Connecticut, is a facility on the grounds
of one of the largest mental hospital in New England. Contact
