Purpose:
The purpose of this study is to examine with the aid of fMRI the effects
of alcohol on brain functions involved in driving.
Eligibility Requirements:
Normal, male and female subjects 21-40 years of age, who drink socially,
hold a valid driver's license and do not use street drugs. Pregnant women
cannot participate in this study.
Visit Frequency:
Subjects are seen three times. The first visit is for the purposes of screening
and takes 1-2 hours for a brief physical, psychiatric and neuropsychological
examination.
The second and third visits are the actual study and consists of approximately 3 scanning
hours.
Labwork:
A urine sample is collected to screen for drug use.
Compensation:
Participants receive $20.00 per hour for full study participation and $10
for the screening session.
