Who Am I?

Dr. Folley earned a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Vanderbilt University under the mentorship of Sohee Park, Ph.D. He completed his clinical psychology internship in Neuropsychology and Exceptional Abilities at the University of California, Los Angeles School of Medicine Semel Neuropsychiatric Institute. Following internship, he came to the Olin Neuropsychiatry Research Center to pursue postdoctoral research under the mentorship of Dr. Godfrey Pearlson in neuroimaging and schizophrenia, genetics and endophenotypic markers. Dr. Folley is also a clinical postdoctoral trainee as part of the Institute of Living’s postdoctoral residency program.

As part of the research goals of the Olin Center and Dr. Pearlson’s Cognition, Brain Imaging, Behavior Research and Allelic Variation Laboratory (COBBRA Lab), he is investigating the distributed brain circuitry of working memory in healthy controls, individuals with schizophrenia, and their relatives using data fusion of functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) and diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) through methods developed at the Olin Center. He is also investigating the neuropsychological bases and genetic correlates of cognitive flexibility and divergent problem solving in the schizophrenia spectrum and single neucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) associated with neuropsychological ability and brain function and structure. Clinically, he is interested in neuropsychological assessment and serious mental illness.
