Who Am I?
Paul Kimani Karanja graduated in 2003 from Catholic
University of Eastern Africa with a Bsc. Degree in Mathematics and Computer
Science, He was employed to the position of Systems Analyst by a Government
Research Parastatal (Kenya industrial Research and Development Institute,
Nairobi, Kenya where He worked for almost three years before moving to USA,
During this time He acquired an A+ (User Support Professional) Certificate,
CCNA certification and He also got training in Installation and
Configuration of VSAT Networks.
Some of the Projects he handled In Kenya included:
1. Setup of Fiber Optic Backbone
2. Setup and Configuration of the KIRDI Mail server
3. Large scale Computer Assembly
4. Worked together with ISPs to maintain the main KIRDI WAN
5. Directly configured CISCO managed Switches and Routers
6. Setup of the KIRDI website
Roles & Responsibilities
An active Systems Analyst in ONRC since November 2007 Paul is now involved in
Systems Administration, Management and Setup. His interests are Linux
Distributions and Web Driven Open Source applications. Some of the projects he
is handling at the moment at ONRC are:
1. The B-SNIP website http://www.b-snip.org
2. The B-SNIP Mediawiki Driven wiki
3. He is also involved in Administration and Configuration of the OLIN Centre IS
Equipment.
In Future he plans to be a Professor in IT and Mathematics
