  • Driving Studies:
    • Collection and analysis of driving-related behavioral measures using E_Prime software and SPSS.
    • Collection and analysis of driving-related fMRI data using Matlab and SPM99.
  • Schizophrenia Biomarker Studies:Assisting with development of paradigm for studying biological markers in schizophrenics and their close relatives as an indicator of potential genomic predisposition to developing the disorder.
  • Event-related Potentials (ERP) Studies:
Applying ERP techniques in an auditory paradigm to improve prediction of clinical response of depressed and schizophrenic patients to various serotonin-agonistic medications.

Objectives/Interests in Neuropsychiatry:

  • Exploring the role that intoxicants, such as alcohol and marijuana, and sleep deprivation have in impairing cognition.
  • Development of biostatistical applications for the analysis of genetic variations in the epidemiology of Schizophrenia.

Current Projects:

  • Effects of Alcohol and Marijuana on cognitive performance in a simulated-driving task using fMRI. K. Groth, V. Calhoun, G. Pearlson
  • Loudness-dependent Event-related Potentials as a predictor of response to serotonin agonists. K. Groth, K. Kiehl
